Gower College

Branding, Print

Client: Gower College (Swansea College and Gorseinon College)

As a previous student at Gorseinon College, I was informed of the recent merger between Swansea College and Gorseinon College and their open request to produce a new identity for their merged college, Gower College.

The new brand had to be designed to reflect Gower College's ambition for high-quality education and represent the universal appeal of the college within its staff and students. Additionally, the logo had to work in English as well as Welsh and portray the friendly open character I had as a student there. The primary audience for the Gower College brand were those who experienced the college on a daily basis; that of its staff and its students (17 - 50). However, a secondary audience to the brand was that of prospective students and their parents, plus lecturers who wanted to work in the college. As a result, the final brand had to be accessible and traditional but also reflect the new, contemporary attitude of the new college itself.

I wanted to portray in the logo a sense of community and coming together and the beautiful location of the college. I also designed the logo with a wide variety of applications as possible and produced a tessellating pattern that could be applied onto any future products /vehicles/etc.

This was a challenging but enjoyable and enlightening project and was well-received by the staff at the college.
